Fats for the win

So the good news is...the goldfish are gone.  The bad news is...I ate them all.  Hopefully I can refrain from buying anymore!!

I am trying my best to eat healthy snacks but they never seem to satisfy me.  I do ok for awhile and then crack around 4-5pm and eat handful after handful of Cheerios (because they are AWESOME)!  I think part of the reason is that I don't get enough healthy fats in my meals.  I try my best to cut out most "unnecessary" fats and always used reduced fat cheese and fat free yogurt, coffee creamer ect.  My new goal is to eat less processed junk.  Basically eat more healthy fats and less carbs.

This morning I made an egg scramble.  I sautéed a small handful of onions, red peppers, and cherry tomatoes in olive oil and then added a huge handful of spinach.  After the spinach cooked down, I added the egg.  After it was cooked, I threw it all in a bowl with half of an avocado and topped it with Cholula sauce.   I ate this at 8am...and then was good to go until about 1130!  That's a record for me...haha.  I usually have eggs with an english muffin and that usually leaves me still feeling hungry!

It will definitely be trial and error but I think I am on the right track!

Snack Attack

Since I've been on the down low for awhile rehabbing my shoulder I have a new serious addiction to afternoon snacking.  Ok, lets be honest...it's an all day after 1pm affair.  I can't stop myself.  Goldfish and Honey Nut Cheerios are the regular culprits.  First the salty fish...then the sweet cheerios.  After dinner I tend to crave ice cream.  My fave is the Hagen Das rocky road...but I've been settling for their choco peanut butter (since the convenience store across the street is out of RR!).  Seriously.  Someone. Help. ME.

Anyway...I'm hoping now that I wrote down my craziness it will help me break my vicious cycle.  Here's to more fruits and veggies!

All Things Christmas

Earlier in the week R and I went over to Coronado to see the decorations at The Hotel Del.

Snowman Sand Castle

Elaborate Castle with lights! (and a nice sunset!)

The Tree inside the Del

Then on Saturday, we headed up to Newport Beach for the annual Boat Parade.  Apparently it's a big deal.  There were people and cars everywhere!  It took us about an hour to find a parking spot, but after that things got better :)

We jumped on a ferry and headed to the "Fun Zone" on Balboa Island to see the sights and lights.

One of the many boats in the parade!

We ended up walking to the end of the pier (away from the crowds!) and had dinner at the original Ruby's diner.  The best part of the meal was the peanut butter cup milkshake we shared!  I'm a sucker for dessert :)

Christmas Card Idea

I get super excited when I receive Christmas cards in the mail.  It's a nice change from the bills and junk mail that comes piling through every other month of the year!

Have you ever wondered what to do with the cards after Christmas is over?  I always felt bad throwing the cards away (the ones with pictures on them anyway!) and then came across this awesome idea on Pinterest.  If you take a picture of the card with your phone, and assign it to the contact it came from, then whenever that person calls you, their picture shows up on your screen.  For example, yesterday I got a picture card from my grandparents and I took a pic of it.  Now whenever they call me, their lovely faces will pop up on my phone.  Cool right?  You can change the pic every year or just save it to your phone/computer.

El Cheapo

Have you heard of Buffalo Exchange?  It's a place where you can take clothing, shoes, or accessories that you no longer want or need and sell them to make a lil cash.  I never seem to get any money for my clothes, but when I walked in the store the other day, I noticed some flashy sneaks.  Neon yellow and hot pink running shoes with my name on them.  By nothing short of a Christmas miracle they were actually in my size AND the exact brand I get for my crazy high arches.  So for $26 (yes...$26!!) I bought a barely used pair of Asics that retail for about $100 online!  Merry Christmas too me :)

Brew House Tours

I love beer.  Especially when it involves renting a limo!  The pics below are from Stone Brewery on Friday afternoon.  We hit up Mission Brewery on Sunday, but I forgot to take pics.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
